Former WI Pacer Said: 1983 final biggest disappointment of my career!

Recalling the monumental upset when the mighty West Indies were stunned by India in the 1983 Prudential World Cup final, pacer Joel Garner said that the loss was the biggest disappointment of his decade-long cricket career.
Chasing 184 for victory in the 60-overs-a-side game at the Lord’s, reigning champions West Indies slumped from 50 for two to 140 all out in what proved to be the biggest upset of the mega-event.
Coming in to bat at No.5, the 6 feet 8 inch tall pacer remained unbeaten on five off 19 deliveries and he saw the last West Indian wicket to fall after Man of the Match Mohinder Amarnath (26 and 3-12) trapped Michael Holding lbw.
“You know when we chase small totals, everybody looks to the next person to finish the job,” Garner was quoted as saying in a Tony Cozier.
Winner of two previous edition, 1975 and 1979, West Indies were overwhelming favourites against India who had not even crossed the league hurdle in the two previous editions.

“Overconfidence is a hell of a thing,” Garner says. “It was just that they took it for granted that they would make the 183.”
Sharing the new ball with Andy Roberts, Garner (1-24) played his part in bundling out the Kapil Dev-led side for a paltry sum in 54.4 overs and the Barbados-born was livid with the batting show.
“Afterwards, I went into the dressing room, packed my bags and went to the presentation,” he said. “I then went into the Tavern, had a few drinks and went back to the Westmoreland hotel that was just across the road.”
“There must have been 5000 Indian fans there in the lobby with their cowbells and their music, taunting ‘We beat you’ I said to myself, ‘You mean I’ve got to put up with this!

India Must Thanks Rain Who save yet another loss !! read why..

Poor Performance of Indian team Continued in todays Game Tooo.. So india must thanks rain which saves india to yet another loss.
Rain played spoilsport as the tri-series match between India and Australia was abandoned with the two teams sharing the points, which left the visiting side in with a chance to make it to the final.
After being put into bat, India were 69 for two after 16 overs when play was stopped due to rain at 5pm local time (11:30 IST) and after a wait of three hours the umpires decided to call off the match.
The two teams take two points each from today's match, which means that the final league game between India and England on January 30 at the WACA in Perth will be a straight knockout for a chance to play Australia in the final on February 1 at the same venue.
Accoding to points, Unbeaten Australia have 15 points after today's no result, have already qualified for the final while winless India and England have two and five points respectively. A team gets four points for a win.
India had lost to Australia and England in their first-leg matches of the double round robin format tournament.
The start of the match was delayed by 40 minutes due to drizzle since morning and there was first rain interruption at 3:30 pm local time (10 am IST) when India were six for no loss in 2.4 overs.
India losing the struggling Shikhar Dhawan for eight in the seventh over and then Ambati Rayudu for 23 in the 13th over. Dhawan was caught by Aaron Finch at slips off the bowling of Mitchell Starc as the Indian opener dabbed at a delivery that bounced a bit extra from a good length just outside the off-stump without any movement of his feet.
Rayudu was dismissed off the bowling of Marsh with David Warner taking a sensational catch. The Indian batsman had charged and slashed at the ball, carving it high over the infield on the off side and Warner ran from the cover to take a well-judged catch.
Rayudu faced 24 balls from which he hit two boundaries and one six. India were 62 for two when Rayudu was out and they slowed down, scoring just seven runs from the next 3.1 overs before rain stopped play.Ajinkya Rahane was batting on 28 while Virat Kohli was giving him company on three when rain stopped play. Rahane had faced 50 deliveries from which he hit two fours.

Srinivasan Banned by Supreme Court on Fighting Election.....

N Srinivasan Welcome the Supreme Court verdict not to contesting any BCCI election on grounds of conflict of interest, head of IPL-6 spot-fixing and betting probe committee Justice Mukul Mudgal said that it will have far reaching ramifications as it will also impact on all sports bodies.
Delivering its long-awaited verdict, the court held that the allegation of betting against Gurunath Meiyappan, a CSK team official and son-in-law of the BCCI President-in-exile and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra stands proved while the charge of cover up against Srinivasan "is not proved".
The SC also set up a judges committee under a former Chief Justice of India to decide on the punishment in the IPL scam that can threaten the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Justice Mudgal, head of the apex court-appointed three-member committee, said the SC decision will also apply to all sports bodies.
"The judgment is a major advancement in public law. Being the SC verdict, it affects all sports bodies in the country. Conflict of interest arises not only in sports but also in all public bodies," he said
"It advances public law, administration of sports body and its fairness and also establishes the principle of conflict of interest which is present in every facet of life and this judgment will have far reaching consequences and ramifications," Justice Mudgal said.
He said the probe committee led by him had also found the allegation of betting against Meiyappan and Kundra to be proved.
"Our findings also said the same. The Supreme Court found that on its own. In that sense it was satisfactory that the SC had accepted our report," he said.
Former IPL president Lalit modi also welcome the supreme court verdict..

Rahul Dravid : New rules will make World Cup challenging for the captains !!

Former India Captain Rahul Dravid believes that New rules will make World Cup challenging for the captains. Next month cricket World Cup will be an aggressive affair.
Dravid told that new rules, which mandate five fielders inside the 30-yard circle at all times in an innings, will have a huge impact on how the teams work out their strategies at the show piece event starting February 14.
"With the two new balls, the fast bowlers will get that level of assistance up front. The grounds are bigger so it won't be that easy to clear the ropes. I think it will be a challenge for the captains. For example, when you have five fielders in the ring, it's very hard to play a part-time bowler," Dravid said.
"You are almost being forced to play five specialist bowlers. That is a real positive. You are going to be forced to attack and look for wickets rather than see part-timers bowl for a large period of play," he said.
Only two fielders are allowed outside the circle for the first 10 overs. Just three fielders are mandated to be outside the circle during the five Powerplay overs to be taken by the batting team before the 40th over.
Dravid said spinners will have a huge role to play in the tournament despite Australia and New Zealand's reputation of having seamer-friendly tracks.
"It's a long tournament, it's in their summer, the nature of the wickets might change, you are just going to have to be smart enough and hopefully have the balance to play different conditions and different kinds of attacks."

Former Indian Pacer Feels Indian Squrd 4 World Cup not Balanced!!

Munaf Patel is one of the team member of winning 2011 world cup squrd. he is reliving the moments that culminated in India's 2011 World Cup, but while doing so he also fears that the lack of a bowling, experienced bowler's like Zaheer Khan not in team, and an in experienced attack selected might dent the team's chances of defending the title Down Under.
Patel, a two-time World cup played bowler, says the current fast bowlers are not bowling well in partnerships and that is what is hurting the team most.
"It is quite clear that this team is not balanced as last time around. Sreesanth and I had the support of Zaheer Khan, someone who has played close to 100 Tests. And when he talks to you in between overs amid pressure situations, it makes a huge difference," said a jovial Patel, who nowadays is pretty content playing the Ranji Trophy for Baroda.
He is quick to add: "Harbhajan was around too. So all the guys were experienced and it made a huge difference. This time there is nothing like that but I still hope the team does well and retains the cup. Overall, there are not many experienced players around and the side is playing away."
Patel is now a days out of Cricket due to injuries & dropdown of his bowling speed.

Australia and India will have the chance to put daylight between one another at the top of the Intenational Cricket Council ODI team rankings, when they compete alongside England in a tri-series, which starts in Sydney on Friday.

Australia will be keen to edge a point clear of India at the top of the One-Day International team rankings when they clash with England in the opening match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday.
Australia is also in upper hand as they are playing in australia & on their home grounds, After losing test series India Moral is already down but they will try to bounce back as indian team has beaten 5-0 in home series over Sri Lanka in November.

At Last India survived to draw in the Fourth Test on final day!!

India survived to draw in the fourth & last Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, leaving Australia 2-0 winners of the series.
Australia set to handed a victory target of 349 when they declared at 251-6 before the start of play, India were 160-2 at lunch & reached 252 -7 at the end.
Despite some disciplined bowling from the Australians on a turning pitch, only one Indian batsman had fallen in each of the first two sessions and the match looked destined for a draw at the second break.
Murali Vijay had illustrated the limited ambition of india, when he took 222 minutes and 135 balls to score a half century but it was only when his partnership with skipper Virat Kohli was broken that an Indian victory could be discounted.
Vijay survive an leg before wicket appeal off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood when he was on 46 and the paceman finally got his man when he induced the opener into an edge that Brad Haddin claimed behind the stumps for 80.

It was just reward for Hazlewood (2-31), who had bowled with great discipline and miserly economy in the first two sessions without taking a wicket.
Left-armer Mitchell Starc struck next, removing Kohli for 46 with a slanted delivery that the Indian captain edged to Shane Watson at first slip.
India were now rocking at 201-4 and Starc drove home Australia's advantage in his next over by trapping Suresh Raina leg before wicket for a duck to give the recalled batsman a pair for the match.
Off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who had removed opener Lokesh Rahul before lunch, returned to dismiss Wriddhiman Saha lbw for another duck with a delivery that took a devilish bounce off the pitch and into the batsman's pads.
The 15,000 spectators at the SCG were now buzzing and Hazlewood elicited another huge roar when he reduced the tourists to 217-7 by trapping Ravichandran Ashwin lbw for one run.
Even on a day when the Australian bowlers took centre stage, captain Steve Smith could not be kept out of the limelight and it was his brilliant diving catch that ushered Rohit Sharma back to the dressing room for 39 just after lunch.

India still in Critical Situation at the end of day 3 in Last Test.....

At the End of Day 3 play India Scored 342 for the loss of 5 wicket in 115 overs, but india is way behind australia, still trial by 230 runs, two century made by Lokesh rahul & captain Virat Kohli.
It seems India can only play for draw or loose the match after the end of today's play. Australia is in very good position.
1. Rahul scored (110 off 262 balls) his first hundred in Tests.
2. Suresh Raina out for duck.
3. Rohit Sharma (53) registered his maiden fifty versus Australia in Tests.
4. Kohli registered his 10th century in Tests – his sixth vs Australia. He is the first batsman to post three hundreds in consecutive innings as captain 115 & 141 at Adelaide and 140 not out at Sydney.
5. Kohli first batsman to record four hundreds in four Tests versus Australia in Australia.
6. Kohli has posted four centuries in a Test series. He became the second Indian batsman to post four hundreds in a Test series.
At the end of day 3 virat kohli is batting on 140, with Wriddhiman Saha scoring 14 runs not out, this is the last pair batting knows as batsman.

New Captain Brings No Change In Indian Team & Same Story Repeated !

Same Story seems to be repeated again by Indian team in fourth & last test against Australia, indians have not learnt any lesson by loosing series.

Now captain changed Virat Kohli is leading indian team in tests, while looking toward his aggressiveness every indian fan believing some miracle from virat, but virat also fails to deliver..
Shami managed figures of five for 112, was single bowler who disturbed australian, while Australian finishes first innings, at 572/7 after which Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul helped India reach 71/1 at close of play.
After match in interview said Shami "It's tough for fast bowlers to bowl on a flat pitch. It is important to maintain your line and length. When it becomes easier for batsmen to play shots.
Shami added "Australian bowlers are bowling in their home grounds, so they are used to the conditions here and are aware of what line and length they should be bowling. We tried the same thing but they batted well. So it's all part of the game, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't."
India still trail Australia by 501 runs but Rohit Sharma (40) and KL Rahul (31) held steady at the crease, especially the latter, as he appeared calmer than the two poor shots he played in his debut Test at the MCG.

In final test Murli vijay again fails to score & he got out for Duck on third ball of innings. While on other side australia continued their domination on day 2 in sydney. On day 2 record is made by australian by scoring more than 50 runs by their six batsman in first innings.
