Indian Cricket Fever Comes to End! as India Lose by 95 runs in Semis..
Steven Smith's
sublime century laid the groundwork and Australia's pace bowlers finished the
job to send the co-hosts storming into a seventh World Cup final with a 95-run
victory over champions India on Thursday.
Australia move
on to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and a shot at a fifth title against New
Zealand on Sunday, while India head home after four months Down Under
having come up short in their bid to retain the title they won four years ago.
Smith's 105
helped Australia to a total of 328 for seven, the highest in a World
Cup semi-final, and although skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit a defiant 65 in
what might be his final One-day innings, India were dismissed for 233
in the 47th over.
India might have
fancied their chances of chasing the target down after making a solid start on
a good pitch in perfect weather conditions and backed by the majority of a
noisy crowd of 42,330 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Mitchell Johnson and
Josh Hazlewood had other ideas, however, and they tore the heart out of India's
top order by sending Shikhar Dhawan (45), Virat Kohli (1) and Rohit Sharma (34)
back inside six overs.
When James Faulkner,
who had been hammered for 23 runs by Dhawan in his first two overs, got into
the act by dismissing Suresh Raina (7), India had lost four of their
most coveted wickets for the addition of just 32 runs to fall to 108-4.
Johnson's bowling was
as potent as it has been all tournament and the delivery that clean bowled
Rohit a ball after the opener had the temerity to hit him for six sent one bail
flying 20 feet behind the stumps.
Dhoni and Ajinkya
Rahane (44) set about rebuilding the innings with a partnership of 70 but when
the captain was run out ambling down the wicket by a direct hit from Glenn
Maxwell, the die was cast.
Faulkner added a
flourish by bowling Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohit Sharma in successive
deliveries to finish with 3-59 but Umesh Yadav blocked the hat-trick ball.
Earlier, on a good
Sydney Cricket Ground pitch, in perfect weather conditions, Smith came back to
torment India in a partnership of 182 with opener Aaron Finch (81) to lead
Australia to a comfortable position with close to 200 runs on the board, nine
wickets in hand and over 15 overs to bat.
With Umesh Yadav
(4-72) to the fore, however, India struck back to remove the power-hitters in
Australia's middle order and disrupt their attempt to plunder runs in the later
overs.
"I think it's a
good total, we're going to have to bowl and field well though," said
Smith.
"At the start,
if you're offered 330, I reckon you take that nine times out of 10. It's going
to be about squeezing and hopefully the bowlers can do a job for us.
"It's always
nice getting hundreds at the SCG and hopefully the boys can back it up in the
field now."
Smith had come to the
crease in the fourth over after Yadav had bounced out opener David Warner for
12 and rarely looked troubled for the remainder of his 122-minute knock.
The bouncers were
pulled, he called for a cap when the spinners came on and hit 11 fours and two
sixes to give India a rude reminder of his prolific form in the test series
around New Year, when he scored a century in all four matches.
The 25-year-old
secured his fourth straight half century at the World Cup in 53 balls and was
soon surging towards his fourth ODI century, which he secured with a six and a
four off successive balls.
Finch at the other
end was looking less assured as he sought to end his run of poor form but he
too reached the half century mark before his partnership with Smith was broken
in the 35th over.
Yadav again did the
damage, his bouncer cramping Smith as he attempted the hook with the ensuing
top edge flying to Rohit Sharma at deep square leg.
Glenn Maxwell came
out ahead of his skipper Michael Clarke and hit a brisk 23 off 14 balls before
sweeping a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery to Ajinkya Rahane at deep backward
square leg.
The crowd, the
majority wearing the blue of India, were roused and Finch soon departed as
Yadav's third victim with Clarke (10) and James Faulkner (21) following him
back to the dressing room as Australia tumbled to 284 for six.
Even the experienced
partnership of Shane Watson and Brad Haddin (seven not out) was unable to
steady the ship as Australia tried to balance the imperative of scoring quickly
with making sure they did not run out of batsmen.
Watson departed for
28 to give Mohit Sharma his second wicket and it was left to paceman Mitchell
Johnson to bolster Australia's tally closer to a par score with his 27 not out
off nine balls.
It was the first time
in eight matches at the World Cup that India had failed to dismiss their
opponents.

For the First Time New Zealand entered ICC World Cup final by Defeating SA...
New Zealand entered
their maiden ICC World Cup final, beating South Africa by five wickets in a
thrilling rain-reduced World Cup semi-final at Eden Park in Auckland on
Tuesday.
Set 298 to win from
43 overs, the Kiwis, led by fine knocks from captain Brendon McCullum (59 off
26 balls) and Grant Elliott (84 off 73) got across the finish line with one
ball to spare. Elliott hit the winning run with a six over long-on off the
bowling of Dale Steyn.
South Africa captain
AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 103
from 73 balls to power their team to an imposing 281 for five in a rain-reduced
World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Eden spoPark on Tuesday
The co-hosts were set
298 to win from 43 overs on the Duckworth-Lewis system after a rain break five
minutes short of two hours. Neither side has ever played in a World Cup final.
De Villiers, who was
dropped on 38 by Kane Williamson at short cover off Corey Anderson in the first
over of the batting powerplay, was unbeaten on 65 while du Plessis anchored the
innings with a composed 82.
David Miller then
smashed 49 from 18 balls, including consecutive sixes off Anderson, in the
remaining five overs after the break.
New Zealand made an
impressive start after de Villiers opted to bat following heavy overnight rain.
Openers Hashim Amla
(10) and Quinton De Kock (14) fell cheaply to Trent Boult who broke Geoff
Allott's New Zealand record of 20 wickets at the 1999 World Cup.
De Kock had a life on
10 when wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi, diving to his left, could get a fingertip
only to an edge off Boult which sped to the boundary.
In the next over from
Southee, Amla mistimed a hook which hung tantalisingly in the air before
falling short of Boult running around from long-leg.
New Zealand's luck
changed in Boult's following over. Amla pushed his bat at a full delivery without
moving his feet and the ball took the inside edge and crashed on to the stumps.
De Kock looked
tentative throughout his brief innings against the swinging ball and it was no
surprise when he sliced Boult high to Southee at third man who did not have to
move.
Matt Henry, replacing
the injured Adam Milne, bowled with high pace and accuracy as McCullum
increased the pressure with three slips and a gully.
But Boult's seventh
over went for 12 runs and McCullum turned to Daniel Vettori to reimpose some
control.
Henry was rested
after his opening five overs had cost only nine runs as South Africa
consolidated.
The sun emerged
briefly and du Plessis off-drove two boundaries in a Southee over and struck
Grant Elliott back over the bowler's head for the first six of the game.
The partnership
between Rossouw and Faf du Plessis had reached 83 when McCullum introduced
Anderson. The first ball to Rossouw was a wide and the second flew off the
shoulder off the bat to backward point where Martin Guptill leaped to his right
to hold the catch in his fingers.
Du Plessis reached
his half-century from 85 balls and celebrated by lofting Henry straight back
over his head for six. De Villiers started to collect boundaries at the other
end as the South Africans started to accelerate.
The 50-partnership
came off 44 balls and De Villiers struck Anderson for 14 runs off three balls
immediately after he was dropped by Williamson who failed to cling on to a
fierce drive.
De Villiers was in
full flow now before the players left the field after the 38th over when rain
blew in over the stadium.
After the teams
returned Anderson dismissed du Plessis caught off his gloves down the leg side
by Ronchi when McCullum asked for a review after umpire Ian Gould had signalled
a wide. But the New Zealand jubilation was cut short when left-hander Miller
climbed into their bowling and 65 came off the final five overs.

Jagmohan Dalmia Elected Again as a BCCI President....
Jagmohan Dalmiya is back as president of Indian cricket after being
unanimously elected to the post at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's
(BCCI) Annual General Meeting in Chennai on Monday.
This will
be his second term at the helm in the Indian cricket board, more than a decade
after his first term ended.
According
to reports, Anirudh Choudhary has been elected as treasurer of the body, while
Anurag Thakur beat Sanjay Patel to the post of BCCI secretary.
BJP
leader Thakur, it is learnt, won by just one vote over Srinivasan loyalist
Patel, a scenario unlikely to have emerged had there not been cross-voting
during the election process.
However,
the fact that other anti-Srinivasan camp candidates lost the elections proved
that cross-voting took place only for Thakur.
Barring
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association chief Thakur's surprise win, ruling camp
loyalists swept the elections for the other posts at the much-postponed AGM,
where Srinivasan himself could not contest for the President's post owing to a
Supreme Court directive.
Jharkhand
Cricket Association's Amitabha Chodhary was elected the Joint Secretary beating
Goa's Chetan Desai, belonging to the anti-Srinivasan faction, while Haryana's
Anirudh Choudhary won the treasurer's position by defeating Rajiv Shukla.
While
three vice-Presidents were elected unopposed, the two other positions also went
to Srinivasan’s group, with T C Mathews (Kerala, west zone) and C K Khanna
(Delhi, central zone) winning the polls. Khanna defeated the influential
Jyotiraditya Scindia, while Mathews edged Ravi Sawant.
The three
who were elected unopposed were Andhra's Gokaraju Gangaraju (south zone),
Assam's Goutam Roy (east) with M L Nehru of Jammu and Kashmir representing the
north zone.
The road
for Dalmiya was cleared after another former president Sharad Pawar failed to
get a proposer from East Zone, prompting the Maratha strongman to pull out of
the race ahead of Monday's much-delayed Annual General Meeting.
The
70-year-old Dalmiya, president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), controls
two votes from East Zone and had on Saturday emerged as a front-runner for the
top post since no other name was unanimously acceptable to all the units loyal
to Srinivasan.
Dalmiya's
bid got a boost on Sunday after Pawar failed to get any proposer from East Zone,
whose turn it is to nominate the next BCCI president.
All the
six state units from East Zone owed allegiance to the Srinivasan camp as his
loyalists met in Chennai ahead of the Annual General Meeting.

India's Balling Hurricane Destroys UAE... India Got 9 Wicket Win!
Indian batsmen and bowlers performed well as they
comfortably achieved 103-run target set by UAE in just 18.5 overs in
their third group league match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at WACA in Perth on
Saturday. With this third
victory on the trot, India stayed at the top of Pool B with 6 points. Team
India virtually sealed their place in the quarterfinals of the quadrennial
event.
Later Chasing 103, India lost Shikhar Dhawan (14) early at the score of 29 in 6.3 overs. Mohammad Naveed dismissed Dhawan after Rohan Mustafa caught a one-handed blinder at backward point to send back Dhawan to the pavilion. Rohit Sharma slammed his 24th ODI fifty to lead India's run chase. Rohit (57*) and Virat Kohli (33*) stitched an unbeaten 75-run partnership for the second wicket.

Earlier in the day, India's bowling unit continued to impress as it skittled out a below-par United Arab Emirates for a 103 in the team's third league match.
Ravi Ashwin Spins his Carrier Best 4 wickets for 25 runs ..
Batting First the UAE batsmen couldn't replicate their spirited performance of the
two previous games as the bowlers led by spinner Ravichandran Ashwin performed
like a well-oiled machine to dismiss the opposition in 31.3 overs.
Ashwin, with splendid career-best figures of 4/25 in 6.3 overs (his first four-wicket haul), was the pick of the bowlers, and he also got good support from the likes of Umesh Yadav (2/15), comeback man Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/19), find of the season Mohit Sharma (1/16) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/23), who kept the pressure from the other end.
This was the lowest team total against India in World Cup.
It was Bhuvneshwar, who started the slide with Amjad Ali (4) failing to execute a hook shot. His opening partner Andri Berenger also fell prey to the hook shot as a Yadav delivery was too quick for him and Dhoni took another easy catch. From there on, it was Ashwin's show as he had the batsmen in his grips. Krishna Karate (4) got one to jump and Raina took a catch at leg-slip while Dhawan took a smart one to dismiss Swapnil Patil (7).
Shaiman Anwar (35 not out, 6x4), UAE's man in form, tried his bit but there wasn't any support from the other end. It was Anwar, whose plucky shots got his team's total past 100-run mark later bolled by Umesh yadav as last wicket fall of UAE.

Afghanistan Pick Up their first Win in World Cup over Scotland....
Star of this match who took match to last over is Samiullah Shenwari who produced a brilliant rearguard action to guide
Afghanistan to their first World Cup victory with a dramatic one-wicket win
over Scotland in their Pool A clash in Dunedin on Thursday.
He belted three sixes off Majid Haq in the 47th over to get to 96 runs before he was caught in the deep attempting his fourth. Shenwari, who had been positively pedestrian for his first 40
runs, was dismissed for 96 after taking charge of his side's chase to 211 runs
for the victory at University Oval. The 28-year-old was dismissed with 19 runs still required from 19
balls but last pairing of Shapoor Zadran and Hamid Hassan managed to get their
side to the target with three balls to spare.
Richie Berrington and Josh Davey had ripped through the middle of
Afghanistan's order to reduce them from 85 for two in the 19th over to 97 for
seven in the 24th.
Mohammad Nabi's side had been well placed to chase down Scotland's
210 all out with Javed Ahmadi well set on 51 before Berrington and Davey struck
with five wickets for 12 runs between them.
Shapoor and Hassan got their side home, however, Shapoor hitting
the winning runs with a four to spark delirious celebrations among the team and
a small group of Afghanistan fans.
Afghanistan's pace bowlers, ably supported by Nabi's gentle
off-spin, probably felt they had done enough when they dismissed Scotland for
210 on the final ball of the innings. Shapoor (4-38) and Dawlat (3-29) were the pick of the bowlers,
putting pressure on Scotland's batsmen with their accurate line and length even
if there was little movement in the air or off the pitch.
Scotland's innings was one of fits and starts as they lost wickets
in bunches, consolidated with promising partnerships, only to again lose
batsmen in quick succession.
Haq (31) and Alasdair Evans (28) ground out a 62-run ninth-wicket
partnership to ensure the Scots lasted the full 50 overs and had something of a
target to defend.

Gayle Destroy Zimbabwe to Record First Double Century in WORLD CUP....
West Indies explosive
batsman Chris Gayle scored the first double century
in the history of the ICC World Cup in Pool B match against Zimbabwe at Canberra.
His devastating knock
of 215 off 147 balls helped the Caribbeans amass 372 for 2 before shooting out
Zimbabwe -- whose run-chase was reduced to 363 from 48 overs -- for 289 in 44.3
overs under the Duckworth-Lewis method after rain briefly interrupted the
contest.
Gayle the left-hander hit Tendai Chatara for a boundary in the 46th over of the West
Indies innings to reach the landmark of 200 runs off 138 balls.
In walking into the
record books by registering the fastest double century in ODIs, he
bettered Virender Sehwag's record, which had come off 140 balls. Certainly, when Gayle
fires, the West Indies look a stronger unit. Gayle got this 200 score achievement on the same date when Sachin Tendulkar did 5 years back..
The master blaster
opener slugged 16 sixes & breaks 15 sixes record of Shane Watson's ODI record, as well as 10 fours in
the 147-ball innings, which formed the large part of an ODI record 372-run
partnership with Marlon Samuels (133). He was dismissed off
the last ball of the innings trying for a 17th six, but only succeeding in
holing out in the deep. Gayle also went on to
complete 9,000 runs in ODIs in the ongoing World Cup.
Earlier, Gayle's
first hundred came off 105 balls. It was his 22nd ODI century and included
five fours and five sixes. West Indies captain
Jason Holder, who was forced to make two changes to his team, won the toss and
elected to bat first.

After Two Straight Loss England Finally Got a Win in World Cup....
England got 119-run victory over Scotland in
their cricket World Cup Pool A match at Oval on Monday to record their
first win in the tournament. England posted 303 for eight after being asked to bat then dismissed Scotland for 184 from 47.2 overs on a day which began under dark clouds and concluded in bright sunshine.
Moeen Ali scored fast 128 of 107 produced a stream of delightful drives to reach his second one-day international century and shared a 172-run opening partnership with Ian Bell (54) to give England a grip on that match.
He reached his century from 91 deliveries with his fourth six of the innings, lofting off-spinner Majid Haq high over mid-wicket.
Captain Eoin Morgan at last found some form to strike 46 with four boundaries and two sixes and guide his team past the 300 mark.
Englind pace attack also got Momentum Being Crushed by New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum
England's pace attack, which had been slaughtered by New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum in Wellington last Friday, took control.
Opener Kyle Coetzer took two boundaries off James Anderson's opening over and continued to drive and cut confidently to reach his half-century off 64 balls.
Runs dried up at the other end against disciplined bowling and his dismissal for 71 with 11 boundaries was the beginning of the end.
Ali took two for 47 from 10 overs, bowling in tandem with another occasional off-spinner Joe Root, as the wickets fell and the required run rate rose.
Finn, who was smashed for 49 from two overs in the humiliating loss to New Zealand last Friday, returned to help clean up the tail. He finished with three for 26 from nine overs.
After they were crushed in their opening games by co-hosts
Australia and New Zealand.

India Win Again by Thrashing South Africa by Big 130 Runs in WorldCup...
Shikhar Dhawan scored 137 & Rahane scored fast 79 as India break their World
Cup jinx against South Africa with a Big 130-run victory in a pool B
match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Dhawan made his career-best
137 which leads India to a comfortable 307/7. The bowlers
performed brilliantly to crush South Africa for 177 in 40.2 overs. This was India's maiden
World Cup win against South Africa after having lost the clashes in 1992,
1999 and 2011.
Ajinkya Rahane, who blasted his way to 79 off 60 deliveries, India posted their highest total in a World Cup game against the south africans.
Indian Bowlers gave spine buster as South Africa never recovered once skipper AB de
Villiers (30) fell short of his crease with Mohit's accurate throw on top
of the stumps sending the destructive player back in the pavilion.
De Villiers and Du
Plessis were going strong at one stage adding 68 runs for the third wicket
as South Africa reached 108 for two before the skipper got run-out. Du Plessis (55) tried
his best to stem the rot but once he mistimed a pull-shot off Mohit to
Dhawan at covers.
Melbourne Cricket Ground is filled with 'Men In Blue', Crowd attendance was 86,786 of which at least 75,000
were Indian supporters. Sachin Tendulkar also cheering them from the stands, it was an electric atmosphere at the MCG as
Dhoni's men cantered home in style. The Indian dressing room erupted in
joy and the players hugged each other after last man standing Imran
Tahir was trapped leg before by Ravindra Jadeja.
The Indian top-order
once again fired beautifully. Dhawan and Virat Kohli again had a
productive partnership that yielded 127 runs for the second wicket. Rahane was in a mood
to make amends for his failure during Pakistan game as he matches Dhawan
stroke for stroke during their rollicking 125-run stand for the
third wicket in only 16.3 overs.
Rahane hit seven
fours and three sixes with Dhawan, who has regained his form just when it
mattered the most, started his innings from where he had left off against
Pakistan. Rahane showed why he
is rated so highly by one and all. The six over long-off of Steyn's
bowling was a pure delight as was his step out off Tahir to dispatch him
for maximum.
Mohit Sharma (2/31 in
7 overs), Ravichandran Ashwin (3/41 in 10 overs) and Mohammed Shami (2/30
in 8 overs) kept the opposition batsmen under tight leash for better part
of the innings.
With two wins from as
many matches, India now have a very good chance of qualifying for the
quarter-finals as group leaders. It was yet another
commendable show by the Indians, who came into the tournament with a
string of poor results in the tri-series preceding the mega-event.

West Indies Destroy Pakistan by Huge Margin of 150 Runs....
All-rounder Andre Russell hit a whirlwind 13-ball 42 not out,
including three sixes from a Sohail Khan over, before taking three wickets with
the ball to help West Indies demolish Pakistan by a huge margin of 150 runs in
their ICC World Cup Group B match against Pakistan in Christchurch on Saturday.
Pakistan had restricted West Indies to 195 for four after 40 overs
at Hagley Oval but 115 then came off the last 10 thanks to Russell, Lendl
Simmons (50) and Darren Sammy (30) which took the total to an imposing 310 for
six. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for a disappointing 160 as they lasted
just 39 overs. Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels set about restoring West Indies' fortunes, aided by some sloppy fielding by Pakistan.
With the total on 86 and his score on 27, Samuels survived a simple chance to Shahid Afridi at mid-wicket off left-arm pace bowler Wahab. Bravo reached 49 when he was forced to leave the field with an injury to his left hamstring. He was to be taken to hospital for scans. Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin took four boundaries off a Haris over and posted the first half-century of the innings with seven boundaries from 41 deliveries before he was caught on the boundary for 51 by Yasir off the spinner.
Umar Akmal (59) and Sohaib Maqsood (50) hit half-centuries to add
some respectability to the total after Pakistan were left tottering at one for
four in the fourth over with pacer Jerome Taylor taking three wickets in the
space of two overs. Pakistan were not helped by some indifferent fielding and three dropped catches after their captain Misbah-ul-Haq had won the toss and elected to field.
Both teams lost their opening matches with Pakistan succumbing to
India in Adelaide and West Indies losing to minnows Ireland in Nelson, New
Zealand.

Check Out IPL 8 Auction Players & Their Price! Yuraj on top......
Sixty-seven players, including 23 overseas, were sold as Rs
86.8 crore was spent by the eight franchises in Bengaluru, on Monday.
Yuvraj
Singh, left out of India's squad for the ongoing ICC World Cup, was once again
the top draw at the auction, as Delhi Daredevils spent a massive Rs 16 crore to
sign him up. They
staved off stiff competition from Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had paid Rs
14 crore for him last year.
Dinesh
Karthik again commanded a good price as Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped him
up for Rs 10.5 crore. Delhi, who released a lot of players after the last season, went all out at the
auction, spending Rs 7.5 crore for Angelo Mathews, four crore for veteran pacer
Zaheer Khan and 3.5 crore on leg-spinner Amit Mishra.
New Zealand pacer Trent Boult also made a windfall as he went for Rs 3.8 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians purchased Australia opener Aaron Finch for 3.2 crore and Murali Vijay was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3 crore.
